The single-channel video projection
Public Space
follows the performance project Terre Mécanique,
a research collaboration with the MIT Self-Assembly Lab around the early evolution of
Rapid Liquid Printing.
Made two years later,
the video carries this research forward and prefigures
Costumes, Space Stages, Tanks,
a series of screenprints
developed from 2020–21 with graphic designer Geoff Kaplan.
The soundtrack
draws from instructions provided by the lab for Rapid Liquid Printing.
A single figure
moves through a field of collages,
models,
and plans for space stages.
The editing cuts the body and movement sequence into parts,
reordering rates of motion.
The moving body enters a language of fabrication,
inscribed into the industrial process.
The title space stage [public space] reappears in the screenprint series,
where it functions as both a project note and a spatial proposal.

the video to plans for
constructing
adaptable full-scale objects:
stages, costumes, tanks,
bells,
gantries,
and floor systems.
